Boise State – Ready to dance

The one thing I hear from the Boise State fan base is “it’s not fair”! It’s not fair that a team from the WAC/MWC can’t play in the national title game. Bronco Nation thinks Boise State IS ready to dance. The national title game for an undefeated team from a non AQ conference is a mathematical impossibility. The insiders think that an invite to the Junior Prom (BCS – Sugar/Rose/Fiesta/Orange) should be enough and Boise State should be grateful. As to the Senior Ball (national title game), that is reserved for those with AQ status.

It’s time to say to the world of College Football – Get ready to dance! Boise State will be there and quite possibly sooner rather than later. In a few days all of the speculation on the future of Boise State and the Big East Conference. An acceptance announcement is expected on Friday. Most likely it will be a six team unison announcement as to the future of the Big East’s re-birth as viable conference to be reckoned with.

Rearview Mirror: Fresno State

Post Game Thoughts:

Boise State put forth their best effort of the season Friday night turning in a complete performance on Offense and Defense.  Special teams are still having some issues though with a blocked PAT and a breakdown on the punt team which foiled the shutout.

Offensively, Kellen Moore was very good, completing 74.2% of his passes, tossing three touchdown passes and finishing with a QB rating of 175.  The running game is continuing to get better running for 183 yards and five touchdowns.  Doug Martin led all ball carriers with 94 yards on the ground and contributed and additional three receptions.  It was good to finally see Geraldo Boldewijn in the lineup as he contributed three receptions with two of them being touchdowns.  Having Boldewijn back in the lineup will help the run game because the Broncos will be able to stretch the field thus forcing opposing defenses to spread out as well.  With a comfortable lead, Joe Southwick and Grant Hedrick got valuable game experience which is invaluable at this time in their evaluation and development for the future of this program.

Bob Kustra: His Own Words On Realignment

Sunday evening I went to Edwards to catch Moneyball. As an avid Oakland A’s fan I was sure it would be a great movie. While on my way into the theater I ran into Dr. Kustra. I stopped and introduced myself and asked him a couple of questions. I first asked where we might fall in the realignment landscape. His answer was one of uncertainty with all of the changes. “I don’t know, It’s hard to tell right now”. This pretty much was what I would have assumed his answer to be. Continue Reading

Review Mirror: Toledo

Post Game Thoughts:

After having a little time to think about the game, you always figure out two things.  One, it is never as bad as it looks, and second it’s never as good as it looks.  Let’s face it; the win versus Toledo was Ugly.  Coming into the game, Boise State knew Toledo was much improved and was a different team than the one who visited Boise in 2010.  There are things in all facets of the game which need to get cleaned up and I will discuss them below.  I think as fans we hold the Broncos to this high standard and if they are not perfect we grumble a bit which is only natural.  However, we as fans must also realize that teams can’t play perfect every week and the mark of truly great teams is how they fight through adversity and still find a way to win.  A less experienced and a less confident team would have panicked on the road but the Broncos fought through and as a result, it was another day at the office.
