- Jeremy Ioane, Safety
Jeremy is a freshman redshirt that the Broncos recruited out of Hawaii, he had a huge potential after he turned down a scholarship to Notre Dame. But the reason that he is so important right now is because Jeron Johnson is entering the NFL Draft and they need a new Safety position to fill. Watch for him to make a huge impact.
2.Joe Southwick, Quarterback
Southwick was the immediate backup quarterback for Kellan Moore last season. Now that Kellan is in his final year with the team Southwick is looking to make a huge impact on the field this Saturday. As of right now the Broncos have 2 quarterbacks that have potential to be back up for Kellen this year and starter for next year.
3. Grant Hedrick, Quarterback
This player was the 2010 Offensive Scout Player of the Year, this happened because of Grants great play making ability’s, and for his tremendous speed. Grant has done so well in practice that he is now going to be to be getting a lot of snaps at this year’s Spring Game. I am going to predict that Grant takes the backup job and he is the new starter for Boise State next season.
4.Geraldo Hiwat, Wide Receiver
Hiwat is from the Netherlands and has huge potential to replace Titus Young. Even though he is not as fast as Young, he is taller and is the best guy to go with out of all of the Broncos Wide Receivers. Geraldo had 11 catches last year and I am hoping to see him in the starting lineup.
5. Jake Van Ginkel, Kicker
Jake is a record setting California State kicker, during his time in Upland (California), his career stat’s were 39 of 54 Field goals, only 2 of those misses were under 40 yards. He is also 150 of 154 on PAT’s. Look for Jake to take the all-time leading point’s leader Kyle Brotzman. He has huge shoes to fill after Kyle’s great career here at Boise State.
6.Charles Leno, Offensive Tackle
As of right now the right side of the Broncos offensive line is not filled up. That leaves 2 spots open for new players to fill up. Leno has a great chance to take one of the positions, he as the size and athletic ability to become a new face on the line.
7. Tyrone Crawford, Defensive End
Tyrone is a Junior transfer coming out of Bakersfield College, and is expected to fill a position that was recently owned by Ryan Winterswyk. You can actually get a look at this player at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrJ0b-Dx1Xo&feature=player_embedded
21 catches, 242 yards, and 2 TD’s, these are the stats for Kirby’s true freshman season at Boise State. Moore was redshirted due to the large amount of Receivers on the team. He used this time to get better at his position and try to compete for a starting position this year.
9. Jerrall Gavins, Cornerback
Gavins has been a huge part of the defense the last 2 years. He played at Corner and Dime, and has been doing a great job. I expect that he will replace Brandyn Thompson on the Depth Chart.
10. Tyler Shoemaker, Wide Receiver
There was a Shouman, and now there is a Shoemaker, has been a huge part of the offence the last 2 years. He has racked up a couple of touchdowns, and now that Young, and Pettis are gone Shoemaker has the chance to start and make himself a huge deep threat.
