Private Party is described as a “dirty plum mauve with a Satin finish” . With opaque color coverage, and it has lightly creamy consistency so it glided onto lips without pulling or tugging but didn’t slide around. It wore well for just over four and a half hours, and it was lightly hydrating while worn. It has a smooth formula with just the right amount of sheen and it is comfortable to wear.  MAC’s satin finish lipsticks are a little heavier feeling than a Lustre formula, but it does stay on the lips a little longer because of this, and I do not experience any dryness. This shade is very pigmented, and Overall, I love the formula and the feel of Private Party on the lips and I think it would definitely flatter those who love cooler plum tones and I think this is well suited to medium and dark skin tones.

I give it a rating of 4/5; one less for it being a Limited Edition Product.

MAC Divine Night Private Party Lipstick

Private Party is part of the limited edition Divine Night collection and is a medium mauve plum with rose-y pink undertones. Spoiler alert: it’s absolutely gorgeous. Private Party is also available in cremesheen glass, although the color is slightly different and includes pearl shimmer.

As with many holiday or limited edition collections, MAC has changed their packaging slightly, opting for shiny gold accents on a plain black bullet, as opposed to their traditional silver on a slightly sparkle-y bullet. I initially thought the gold would look a little tacky, but I actually like it a lot more than the original packaging. By comparison, the original packaging looks a little outdated.

This has easily become my new favorite go-to Fall/Winter lipstick, I wore it out last night and received so many compliments. The beauty of this color is in its’ wearability, not too dark, not too light. Unfortunately many of the Divine Night collection products are already sold out, but MAC counters inside larger department stores seem to have more left than stand alone MAC stores. Here’s to hoping they make Private Party part of the permanent collection, but if not I can’t imagine it being that difficult to find some reasonable dupes.

MAC has come out with really nice Holiday Collection. I went drooling over their Stroke of Midnight brush collection (I regret not buying them) and now Divine Night.

What makes me drool over holiday collection is the packaging. The packaging is a lot like their permanent range of products but here it comes with matte black accents and gold. Super Classy!

Private Party lipstick is described as dirty plum mauve, but for me its more of a plum than mauve. The color is very very unique. Its a perfect shade for winters. The finish of the lipstick is Satin, its creamy enough to glide effortlessly on my lips without tugging or pulling. The lipstick is kinda moisturising however I strongly recommend exfoliating you lips before applying the lipstick for a neater finish. One thing I have noticed about the lipstick is there no bleeding.

The lipstick is nicely pigmented, goes opaque in one swipe itself. The lasting power of the lipstick is also good, lasted on my lips for 4-5 hours with light snacks.

The color is not too dark nor too light! Its perfect for day look with just loads of  mascara and kohl,  and I wore it at  night with smokey eyes which was stunning again.

I absolutely love the Cremesheen Glass in Private Party, my friend Krithi has reviewed it HERE

MAC Divine Night Holiday 2013 Collection: “Private Party” Lipstick Swatches & Review

I excitedly purchased this one item from the new MAC Divine Night Holiday 2013 Collection, and I received it this afternoon, right before I was off to the state fair we have here every October. I really wanted to wear this lipstick to the fair because it’s very autumn-inspired and I love how flattering it is. I ended up wearing it out to the fair, so I didn’t get perfect pictures of the lipstick before it was touched. It was such a fun night of eating fair food (pizza and funnel cake!) and riding the fair rides. Full swatches of Private Party inside,

So again, I usually take pictures of my lipsticks before I ever touch them or wear them, but I just couldn’t resist wearing this one as soon as I ripped it out of the packaging. The only difference between the holiday packaging and the regular packaging, at least for these lipsticks, is that they have a gold finish instead of the usual silver finish.

Private Party is described as a “dirty plum mauve” by MAC and I think that description is perfect. It has tones of plum and violet in it, and it definitely leans on the cool side. That being said, I do think this is a flattering color for many skin tones, from very pale to dark. For reference, I am an NC20-25 in MAC, and it manages to look like a neutral mauve-plum on my lips. The color sits right in between light and dark, so if you’re afraid of really dark, vampy lip colors, this is a great pick for you.

I just love this shade. It has that dirty, dusty purple tone to it that allows it to be worn with a variety of makeup looks. I put some brown shimmer eyeshadow on, applied mascara, and contoured my cheeks with bronzer while wearing this shade tonight.

It’s perfect for the holiday season, too. It has a very festive look to it that would be perfect for wearing around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Again, I think the main thing I like about this shade is that it can be worn using a lighter hand so that it looks less intense, or built up to look a little darker and more bold. Whether you apply it heavily or lightly, it still isn’t an overwhelmingly dark shade that is intimidating.

The MAC Cosmetics Divine Night Holiday 2013 Collection is limited edition and available at MAC counters nationwide, as well as online at MAC’s website. Each lipstick retails for $16.50 USD. Private Party is sold out online, but there’s probably a good chance of you finding it at your local MAC store or counter!

MAC Private Party Lipstick Holiday 2013

MAC Divine Night Lipsticks ($16.50) have launched in five new and limited edition shades for the Holidays kids with the new MAC Divine Night Holiday 2013 Makeup Collection.

MAC Private Party Lipstick is a very interesting shade, as interesting as say the new Lavish Living Blush, that you may pass up if you’re not a daring makeup sort…

But I’m here to say it is divine.

Take a look!

Far be it for me to recommend you purple lipstick! Lord knows I’m scared of it. But MAC Private Party is apparently a dirty plum mauve…oh…ok, that sounds better than purple.

To me it’s more plum! Again, not a shade I’d go with typically but the cool pink tone and the creamy satin finish makes for a very stunning lip color. It applies beautifully well with a creamy texture that glides on without tugging and it wears quite comfortably as well for a solid four hours without feeling dry or migrating. Color also stays true and intense through that wear.

MAC seems to have gone with a traditional plum look for the holidays and I like it. I’m thinking paired up with a gold eye look of some sort that Private Party should make you the seductress at upcoming Holiday parties.

MAC recently launched their Divine Nights Collection, This collection has 5 Limited Edition Lipsticks, out of which today am going to review one lipstick called ‘Private Party’.

Shade – MAC Describes ‘Private Party’ as a ‘Dirty Plum Shade’. Now the color is not like usual plum lipsticks which is not doesn’t caught attention, this is quite a unique shade as it has some pink undertones too. The plum color actually doesn’t comes out to be gothic as we already have mindset of plum color. This makes it more wearable by all skin tones. The color of MAC Private Party Lipstick is pretty nice and looks pretty on lips. This again is very good alternative to the people who are shy away from wearing dark plum shades.

Packaging – The packaging is same like Black bullet but here is a twist, unlike steel finish inside. It has gold finish. On the outer black cardboard box, the imprints are all in gold color. The packaging of MAC Private Party Lipstick is quite luxe and I wish MAC should make all their regular line lipsticks in the same packaging as it has become quite boring to see the same old ones.

Texture and Pigmentation – As is it is satin finish, the texture is light creamy, comes out on lips without any tugging or pulling. The formula is quite hydrating, so a lip balm is quite not necessary. In winters I prefer in creamy lipstick over matte however Matte finish is always my favorite. It gives opaque coverage on a single swipe.

Staying power – MAC Private Party Lipstick gives a quite decent staying considering the fact it’s on creamier side. It stays for 5-6 hours on me survive light meals and drinks. However after a full meal it goes uneven from center so touch up is mandatory.MAC Private Party Lipstick review (1)

Overall Thoughts

MAC Private Party Lipstick is such a beautiful subtle plum lipstick which surely makes you look beautiful and it is not as gothic as one might think about Plum shade. The texture is extremely easy and pretty decent staying power. If it is available in MAC stores, though I doubt not as it is an LE , Go GET IT..!!!!!
